However, power comes at a price. The elves lost their connection with nature, becoming ambitious, greedy, and ruthless. Their once noble culture was corrupted, and their ancestral traditions faded into oblivion.
Today, elves inhabit opulent palaces, wear luxurious clothes, and surround themselves with exquisite artifacts. They dedicate themselves to pleasure and entertainment, but also to political manipulation and the accumulation of power.
The Nobiliary Law, created to regulate the use of magic, has become another tool in the hands of the elven elite. Using legal loopholes and bribes, elven nobles manipulate the system to maintain their power and oppress other races.
Their dominance of power is intrinsically linked to their longevity and their ability to develop magical rings. An elf without magic can live up to 150 years, while those with the ability to develop magical rings can live much longer.
A noble or member of royalty, who generally possess three magical rings, can live up to 200 or 300 years, accumulating knowledge and experience over the decades. This longevity allows them to exercise power with greater precision and coherence, maintaining control over their territories and subjects.
But even among the elves, there are figures who surpass the limits of the possible. The Five Wise, ancient masters of magic and wisdom, have achieved the development of the fifth magical ring, an achievement that allows them to transform matter and regenerate constantly, extending their life beyond 1,200 years.
Four of the Wise, disillusioned with elven society, have retired to the Sacred Forest, where they secretly protect cambiontes and other oppressed individuals. Only Dealen, the Wise who resides in the Academy, remains in the capital, fighting to maintain the Nobiliary Code in force and prevent darkness from consuming his race entirely.
Elves, unlike humans, have a naturally low libido. Their reproductive stage, marked by a glow in the iris, occurs mainly in their first centuries of life. This biological trait has influenced their culture, fostering the sublimation of sexuality into art, politics, and magic.
The suggestive attire of the elves is not an invitation to lust, but an expression of their status, wealth, and individuality. Their opulent palaces are not places of unbridled pleasure, but rather scenarios for political intrigues and displays of power.
And although elven society has lost its connection with nature, it still retains vestiges of its ancient wisdom. In the shadows of power, some elves seek to reconnect with their lost heritage, seeking a way to redeem their race and restore balance in Aerion.
Sylva: The Capital of Power
In Sylva, where secrets are whispered under the shadows of gothic arches and alliances are forged through cautious glances, every corner tells a story of ambition, intrigue, and power. From balconies adorned with intricate carvings to studios where art immortalizes its muses, this city is the beating heart of Aerion, where the sublime meets the dangerous.
Sylva is a stratified city, where each social level finds its place in an intricate urban mosaic. In the poorest areas, located on the outskirts of the city, cambiontes and exiled dwarves reside. These areas are marked by precariousness and abandonment, with narrow streets and worn-out buildings that barely offer shelter to their inhabitants.
Beyond these zones are the lower districts, where cambiontes who have achieved some fortune and elves who have fallen into disfavor reside. Here also live the guards and the lower middle class. This sector is composed of modest dwellings and noisy taverns that serve as meeting points for stories of hope and despair that cross Sylva.
In the next level are the middle-class neighborhoods, inhabited by those with manual skills and essential trades for the city’s functioning. Bakers, innkeepers, carpenters, and tailors fill these streets with the bustle of daily work. Here are family restaurants and small herbal shops that supply both the lower districts and the more opulent areas.
Finally, in the heights of Sylva, are the upper districts, home to nobles and merchants who have amassed great fortunes. These areas are adorned with ostentatious mansions, exclusive jewelers, famous armorers’ workshops, and herbal shops that offer rare and expensive products. The most renowned tailors design garments for the nobles, while the owners of alchemical workshops provide potions and magical artifacts necessary to maintain the elevated status of their clients.
At this point of inflection, what path will the elves choose? Will they be swept away by darkness, or will they find the strength to rise from their own ashes? The fate of Aerion hangs by a thread, and the future of the elves is more uncertain than ever.
